Cheap Entry-Level GW2 Weapons

This is a followup to my Cheap Entry-Level GW2 Armor post. A post on Accessories is still in the works.
Many of the most common attribute combinations received exotic weapon sets in the past few expansions, and those weapon sets will be detailed here.

In this first section, the attribute combinations that have options cheaper than the cheapest available stat-selectable weapons will be listed. If you do not see the attribute combination your build calls for in this section, your cheapest option will be a selectable weapon.

Berserker's

In general, the most cost-effective berserker's weapon for any given weapon type will be from the Shattered weapons set released with Secrets of the Obscure. However, there are a handful of exceptions to this rule. Remember to always check the prices of items before making a purchase. The below examples are given for illustration purposes, this is not an exhaustive list.

Type Alternative
Axe Maw of the Damned
Sword Twin Sisters
Dagger Usoku's Needle

Additionally, the shattered weapon set does not include spears, harpoon guns, or tridents. For spears, there are a handful of good options. Most notably: Rhongomyniad and Impaler.

Assassin's

The assassin's stat combination is used semi-regularly for builds that want to cap critical hit chance. The cheapest option for many weapon types with Assassin's stats is the Spindrift weapons released with End of Dragons. There are many alternative options if you want to save every possible copper but, as none of the spindrift weapons cost more than 35 silver at the time of writing, it's likely not worth your time to shop around for a cheaper deal. The sole exception to this rule is, again, spears. There are exactly two options for assassin's stat spears, and the cheaper one is the Assasin's Pearl Impaler. However, check the prices of the stat-selectable weapons below before buying it as, at the time of writing, the prices are very close.

Dragon's

This attribute combination is primarily used in builds that want to optimize their ferocity. The cheapest available option for most weapon types is the Saltspray weapon set. However, much like assassin's, the difference between the saltspray weapons and named weapons tends to be within a handful of silvers, so it's unlikely to be worth your time to check alternatives.

Yet again, spears are difficult, and there is only one spear on the trading post that comes standard with dragon's stats. That being the Leopard Fang. Thankfully, this weapon is well within the price range of the saltspray weapons.

Viper's

Viper's stats are the most common ones used by condition builds. Their best option is currently the abomination weapon set. As with most of the other sets here, the abomination set does not include a spear. The cheapest option for spears will be a stat-selectable one.

Sinister

Sinister stats are used in a handful of condition builds, usually ones wanting to optimize critical hit rate. The most cost-effective option for these builds is one of: the scavenged obsidian set, fast constructors set, or the glowing strelitzia set. Before buying a scavenged obsidian weapon, make sure to compare its price to the glowing strelitzia sprout and recovered tool box.

Celestial

Celestial builds toe the line between healing builds and DPS builds, and as such are situational picks. However, if you are playing a celestial build, you have only one good option for weapons: the seer-enchanted set obtained from the arms of the people container.

Stat-Selectable weapons

There are a number of paths you can take with selectable weapons, depending on what currencies you value highest.

Invader's Weapons

If you don't value badges of honor very highly, the invader's weapons from the TEID-07 unified vendor system will be your absolute cheapest options.

type cost
Main Hand 90 silver + 50 badges of honor
Off Hand 80 silver + 40 badges of honor
Two-handed 1 gold + 75 badges of honor

Blood Moon Weapons

If you do value badges of honor highly, the blood moon weapon set is your best option.
